Workshops & Courses

The way we communicate and listen shapes everything—our relationships, our work, our peace of mind.

Yet most of us were never taught how to truly listen, how to express what we need without triggering defensiveness, or how to celebrate the people around us in ways that genuinely nourish relationships and culture.

This gap shows up everywhere — in teams where people feel unseen, in relationships where needs go unspoken, in workplaces where criticism is common and appreciation is rare. And it quietly erodes the trust, creativity, and sense of belonging that people — and organizations — depend on to thrive.

Drawing on Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication, my workshops teach three foundational practices that together create a complete relational shift:

Empathy — learning to listen so fully that others feel genuinely heard and understood. Not sympathy, not advice, not silver linings — but the rare and powerful experience of being truly received.

Compassionate Expression — learning to translate judgment, criticism, and blame into honest, needs-based requests that invite connection rather than defensiveness. This is the practice of speaking your truth in a way that keeps the relationship intact.

Acknowledgment and Celebration — learning to actively nourish relationships and culture by recognizing and celebrating the contributions of others. Research shows that feeling valued and seen is one of the most powerful drivers of engagement, creativity, and belonging.

Together these three practices move people from reacting to relating — from criticism to connection, from disconnection to genuine belonging.

Insight alone isn’t enough to change behavior.

Real skill develops through practice — in relationship with others, in a supported space.

That's why these workshops are experiential, not just informational. You won't just learn concepts. You'll practice skills you can use immediately, at work and at home.

What You'll Take Away From These Workshops

Through teaching, discussion, demonstrations, and guided practice with others, you'll develop confidence to:

  • Listen with empathy and genuine presence, so others feel truly heard and understood

  • Identify the unmet needs beneath difficult emotions and behaviors — in yourself and others

  • Translate judgment and criticism into clear, honest requests that invite collaboration rather than defensiveness

  • Celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of colleagues, teammates, and loved ones in ways that genuinely nourish connection

  • Create the conditions for psychological safety — where people feel confident to speak honestly, take risks, and contribute fully

  • Build a culture of appreciation that fuels engagement, creativity, and belonging

  • Navigate conflict with care and skill when it arises, moving from blame to shared understanding

Why This Work Produces Results

Research on psychological safety and positive emotions in the workplace shows consistently that when people feel genuinely heard, valued, and celebrated, something real shifts. Trust deepens. Creative collaboration becomes possible. Conflict that once felt intractable finds resolution. And people bring more of themselves — their ideas, their energy, their full capacity — to everything they do.

These aren't soft outcomes. They are the conditions under which people and organizations thrive.

Organizational Training Feedback

  • Haley did such a fantastic job modeling NVC principles and skills in real time, caretaking and balancing the needs of the group members and the group as a whole, and conveying non-judgment and curiosity. It was really impressive to witness. I generally feel I learned as much from observing how she facilitated the training as I did from the content we discussed.
